Good afternoon Sandowne families,

We are beginning an ambitious fundraising campaign at Sandowne, with our ultimate goal being the construction of a new playground. I have written a letter that families may use to solicit support from our local businesses. Council is already working hard to get donations. If you know of an organization or individual that would be willing to donate to our fundraising efforts for the Dance-A-Thon, please share the letter below with them. Thank you very much for your support.

Dear Community Business Partners,

Sandowne is fundraising for two important initiatives. The first is a Family Math Night. This event has always been a huge success, bringing our community together to understand and support our school’s Mathematics initiatives and goals. We are also beginning an ambitious fundraising drive to build a much needed playground for our students. Many do not realize that it is up to families to raise funds to build play structures at schools. This funding is not provided through the Ministry of Education. Our current goal is to raise $25,000. This will provide a base structure that we can build on over the years.

We would be grateful if you would consider donating prizes/gift certificates for our students and/or offering discounts on items for these fundraising initiatives. We would advertise your contributions on all of our social media (Twitter, Sandowne Public School Website, School-Day) and our Council will also be advertising through their personal social media.

We will be hosting a Dance-a-Thon on February 14th where these donations will be raffled off. We will also be grateful for donations to W.E.F.I. (Waterloo Education Fund Inc.). Cheques can be made payable to W.E.F.I with reference to Sandowne. All donations over $15 will receive a tax receipt.

Thank you in advance for your support of our wonderful school. It is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Danielle Holden (Principal)
