About

Sandowne Public School opened in September 1975. Located on Sandowne Drive, the school is part of the Lincoln Village neighbourhood.

Sandowne currently has an enrolment of 378 students from junior kindergarten to grade 6 and instruction is offered in English and in Partial French Immersion. Students in grades 7 and 8 continue their studies in English at Lincoln Heights P.S. or in French Immersion at MacGregor Senior P.S. Sandowne is now pleased to offer a Full Day Kindergarten program.

With support from the Sandowne community, students take part in a variety of community service projects including raising funds for the Terry Fox Foundation and Jump Rope for Heart. Donations are made to a variety of local charities through the efforts of the Student Council members during the Week of Giving at Christmas and our We Day Team.

Sandowne students are engaged in a variety of house league teams and clubs. Students in grades 5 and 6 also have the opportunity to be a part of the Kodály choir. Sandowne was the site of the original Kodály choir festival in Waterloo Region and the tradition, based on quality music education, continues.

Parent involvement is an integral part of Sandowne’s success. Sandowne has an active School Council that meets on a monthly basis. Our parent volunteers support the school in a myriad of ways including fundraising, participating in special events and off-campus trips, Home Reading, and the Greening committee. School Council activities include special lunch days, a halloween party, a family skating party, and the annual Meet the Teacher BBQ.

Sandowne is proud to have completed extensive interior renovations. A 13 000 square foot addition was also built and completed in December, 2011. As of September 4, 2012, Sandowne welcomed 20 new staff members and 120 new students! It was wonderful to celebrate our new facilities at our Grand Opening Gala on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Thanks for joining us!

We welcome your family to our Sandowne community!
