In 2025/26, we have the unique and exciting opportunity to build a “New Sandowne” – uniting our original Sandowne community with the Elizabeth Ziegler community. At the end of last year, we were able to welcome many EZ students to Sandowne, and this year, all EZ students will become our newest “Sandowne Stars”! We know that many changes are taking place, and our school staff is committed to uniting our communities, welcoming all of our students, new and previous, into one school environment that is enriching, inclusive, caring, and focused on success both in well-being and achievement for all students. We’re grateful to both of these original communities for their support. To say our staff is excited to get to know their students would be an understatement! A little bit about Sandowne…
Sandowne Public School opened in September 1975. Located on Sandowne Drive, the school is part of the Lincoln Village neighbourhood. We have just celebrated our 50th anniversary! Many staff at Sandowne have been members of this community for several years and have created a school culture where all students, families and staff feel welcome and valued.
Sandowne is a school rich in diversity and currently has an enrolment of approximately 670 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Instruction is offered in English and in Partial French Immersion. Students in Grades 7 and 8 continue their studies in English at Lincoln Heights P.S. or in French Immersion at MacGregor Senior P.S.
Sandowne students are engaged in a variety of extracurricular activities and experiences, including intramural sports, Shine for Change, Morning Announcers, True Colours Team, Lunch Helpers, Bus Patrols, Nutrition for Learning Helpers and the Spirit Team. Our staff is excited to offer many enriching opportunities for students to get to know one another, build leadership skills, and to shine in different capacities!
Parent involvement is an integral part of Sandowne’s success. The school has an active School Council that meets on a monthly basis. Our parent volunteers support the school in a myriad of ways including fundraising, participating in special events, off-campus trips, and our Strong Start reading program. School Council activities include special lunch days, Meet the Community events and other fun offerings and events!
At Sandowne, we offer the Nutrition for Learning and Food for Kids programs.
We value our parents and caregivers as partners in their child’s school experience, and we are committed to ongoing communication so that we can support our students. We proudly welcome all of our Sandowne Stars and their families to our Sandowne community!
